An Act
Book 2 of A Meaningful Life Series
He tore their friendship apart; ten years later she’s back. Can she forgive him?
An Act
Josh is incredulous when he finds out that Ashley, the woman who stole his heart and stomped all over it, ends up working for his company as the main actress of the film. Angry at himself for what she did eight years ago, he decides to put distance between them as much as possible. A series of events force them together, leaving him no choice but to spend time with her. As he gets to know her, he realizes that he was wrong about her in so many ways. Should he put his heart back out on the line or go back to thinking of her as the girl who broke his heart in high school and made the wrong decision?
Ashley never thought that she would see Josh again, not after what happened and how he had managed to push her out of his life. The decision she made years ago, led him to hate her, and she was never really sure why. All she knew was that he had been the best thing that had ever happened to her. As she gets to know him, she realizes that she was wrong about him. Should she let him back into her life, knowing that he hated her for eight years?

EXCERPT
“Josh turned towards Ashley. The moment his eyes met hers, he knew.
Knew that there would never be any other woman who would captivate his heart the way Ashley’s had.
If only she hadn’t lied to him.
‘Josh?' Her excited bright blue eyes met his, blinding him momentarily.
‘Uh… yeah?’ He cleared his throat, snapping him out of his earth-shattering realization.
She placed her hands on her waist and frowned, reminding him all too well of his Ashley from years ago, ‘you’re not listening to me, are you?’
‘Sorry,’ he shoved his hands into his pocket suddenly nervous, ‘Just thinking.’
‘Of what?’ Her gaze turned curious and she quirked a brow.
‘You’, the word tumbled out of his mouth before he could stop it.”
Why I wrote it…
An Act was the very first book I wrote. It was inspired for a number of reasons.
The first being that I first hand witnessed the amount of tension, hypocrisy, and judgement amongst both the pro-life and pro-choice world.
You might be wondering to yourself… what did a fifteen year-old girl know about these topics? Why address them if it didn’t concern her?
In some ways you’re right. In other ways, you’re wrong. It wasn’t just the abortion topic that I heard about constantly. I could go on and on about other social topics and problems I heard being discussed among the older generations. You know what I realized?
I realized that, no matter the topic/issue, people refuse to look at the other’s perspective, hurt, and cry for help. They focus on what they think is right because their life and the people around them have told them what they have to believe.
They all have one thing in common. They are searching for comfort, protection, and above all, love.
If we stopped and really looked at the other person, we would see that they are suffering just as much as we are. Ashley and Josh are an amazing example of this. Once they were able to understand each other was when they were finally able to fall in love with each other.
Yes, I do take a stance on what I believe is morally correct. If you decide to pick this book up just remember to read it with an open-mind.
I can’t change your mind, but I bet you can relate to the characters.

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the chapter.”
