A concert

Yes, I went to a concert…

It was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to!

It all happened last week of Wednesday when I was swamped with papers and a midterm, but I still decided to go with a friend of mine. I knew I loved the artist’s music, so I knew it would be fun, but I didn’t count on it being an extraordinary experience.

When we arrived, I saw so many fans who were so eager to see the artist. My friend and I didn’t think we were going to be all that close to the stage, but we were!

And as the night flew by and I found myself belting out the lyrics and looking into the eyes of one of my favorite artists, I came to a sudden realization.

He’s human too.

And it’s not like I didn’t know that before. I had known that. In my head. But just like everybody, when you meet someone you really admire you tend to overlook their human characteristics.

I remember standing there next to my friend and answering the random questions that he was asking. He looked at us and I felt overcome with shyness at the fact that he was looking right at us. As the night continued, I realized he was so normal. It actually made it so much more fun, but then I realized that it is so easy to do that with other people around us.

Those who we admire or love the most tend to have flaws that are difficult to accept when we put them on a high pedestal. They seem like the most amazing beings in the world. We then feel betrayed when our eyes are opened to their flaws. It’s so interesting because they never mean to betray us. They never try showing us anything but who they are, but we still feel betrayed anyway.

At the end of the night, I remember feeling so excited and happy that I had attended the concert, but with the realization that I wanted to pray for him.

Because just like the rest of us, he is also human.
